It has been five years since I’ve gotten my business license, first paying client and website.  My photography feels like my third child, and I can’t believe she’s five this month!  It is only fitting that my new website, new-ish logo (a big thank you to Wiley Valentine!) and updated blog are finally in sync this month as well.

A friend posted a link to a great article with some very sage advice.  This quote is very fitting to the entire process of finding my artistic voice, starting up a small business, maintaining a marriage and not dropping my kids off at the closest bus stop in the process (being real here.)  “Never compare your journey with someone else’s. It’s a marathon with no finish line. Someone else may start out faster than you, may seem to progress more quickly than you, but every runner has his own pace. Your journey is your journey, not a competition. You will never “arrive”. No one ever does.” As a half marathon runner, I can totally soak and revel in this statement.  There have been so many days, months, and seasons where I have wanted to throw in the towel because it felt like too much all at once.  Or I have felt like I was running in mud, wishing I had more hours in the day to get everything done faster.  It’s easy to lose my balance trying to be a great photographer, business person, mom and wife.  I stumble, walk, trip and fall a lot.  But it’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon.  While others have a 5k pace, my slower steady pace will get me to where I need to be right on time.  I am learning to embrace this process and let grace cover my many weaknesses.  I am so grateful for the sheer fact that I get to have a job that I truly love.  It is much easier to quit when it is hard than to lace up your shoes and keep going.  Reaching the five year milestone is like getting a fresh new pair of shoes.  I’m excited for this run, I’m ready!

I have been given so much and I would like to give to my clients in return with a large measure of gratitude.  For every session booked (paid in full) by August 31st I am giving a $50 print credit  (Mini sessions not included.) And every wedding booked (retainer paid in full) by August 31st I am giving a $100 print credit. Thank you to all my clients, friends and family for your love and support!  You mean the world to me.  This business wouldn’t be the same without you.

P.S. There are a few glitches on my new site that are getting hammered out.  If you want to view the portrait section, please click HERE.  Weddings can be viewed at my regular domain: http://www.jenniferwohrle.com.

Congrats on your 5 year mark!! Your images are beautiful and I read that quote somewhere to0 and relate to it as well. Keep your chin up because great things are going to keep coming your way!! :)

Crystal, Tana & Catherine…thanks for being true friends. Love you all! I couldn’t have made it without the support of my friends!

Look at you! Happy Birthday!!! And I love that I made into your little collage (ahem… twice!) because I think it’s amazing that we have such a little love group of photographers… especially women… where we all support each other and hope for the best for one another. This world–and this industry–is a better place because you’re in it, and I am so proud of you! xoxo, and here’s to another five years!

Jenny, I couldn’t be more proud to know you and work with you from time to time. you have a true gift and talent in not only your photography voice, but your compassion for those you meet. May the next 5 years be even better, more successful and more sweet than the first. Love you! xoxo

that was a fun day, wasn’t it? yep, definitely one of my faves, too!

Oh Jenny, I love this post. So true! That photo of us really cute, one of my faves.
