Ben & Ruthie were married on a beautifully, sunny day in Austin, Texas.  This was my third Austin wedding and the funny thing was that it was almost exactly two years from that first wedding.  Ruthie was the wedding planner at that first wedding with her business, Blue Box Events and even Ben was there to lend a hand.  It’s funny how things come full circle.  And this was certainly the third time I came home saying, “Honey, let’s move to Austin!”  The view from my plane window included a dreary, gray, Seattle sky that made me long for that strange, warm thing in the sky that is so foreign to us in January.

The wedding day was a photographer’s dream come true…full of fun details…red cowgirl boots on the flower girls, red belts and shoes on the bridesmaids, and a trendy-hip reception venue.  The Thistle Cafe had these amazing chandeliers and a modern aesthetic that was right up my alley.  The venue and ceremony can always be immaculate, but what really makes the wedding shine is the people.  Ben & Ruthie’s family and friends were some of the warmest and funniest people I’ve gotten to work with.  That is what truly makes a wedding memorable in my mind…the heart of the people.  And they were genuine.

Thank you so much for having me, Ben and Ruthie!  I had so much fun…it has been so special to see God bring you together over the years.  I’m so blessed to have been a part of your day.  Ruthie, I am honored to have been chosen by a wedding planner, thank you!  Ben, thanks for the Austin history lesson infused with your ever-so-slight Texan pride…who knows maybe someday we’ll end up down there with y’all!  I wouldn’t mind :)
